I am a NMBI registered midwife, who trained in Cork before travelling to Australia to work in a large obstetric hospital in Sydney. I loved my life and my work in Sydney and, over the years, met and worked with Legends of the Birthing World, who inspired me to push myself and my knowledge. I have a huge interest in the process of normal birth and how to optimise the body’s and baby’s natural instinct to birth.
In my final year of training I wrote a paper on ‘Tocophobia-Fear of Childbirth’, which was awarded a scholarship by the National University of Ireland. I have always been interested in how antenatal education can help women to overcome this fear. I saw HypnoBirthing becoming more and more popular during my time in Australia. My husband and I signed up for classes and successfully used the techniques during the birth of our own baby boy!
I now work in Cork as a midwife and decided to train as a HypnoBirthing Educator with the HypnoBirthing® Institute. I love that working as a hospital midwife ensures that what I am teaching and discussing with couples is current and evidence based practice. I can combine this midwifery experience with empathy, since I’ve just gone through the same journey so recently.
I am an advocate for women in general and have a huge belief in the strength and grace that every woman holds. I am passionate about a midwife’s role as being ‘with woman’ during this exciting time in their lives. I love to see women transform into strong and confident mothers, with the support of their partners and an awesome birth team. I can’t wait to meet you in your birth journey.
